UPDATE: We’re getting really scattered reports, but it looks like the site has a new look/feel, a new $99 developer option for Mac (to match the $99 iPhone option), and…? Let us know if you see anything else.

Also, some developers have told us that their registration no longer works after the update, so there may be some bugs at work. Let us know if you’re having any problems accessing iPhone 3.2 or other resources.

iTunes Adds In-Browser App Store Previews

iTunes has followed up their recent addition of in-browser music previews with in-browser App Store previews, changing the way iTunes link work from a simple redirect to desktop iTunes to a full-on web showcase for the app in question.

Whether or not this is a step towards the much rumored iTunes.com — the moving of iTunes from desktop to cloud — is harder to say. For Safari users on Mac, the old browser redirect process was so fast as to be ..read more

Apple iPad UI — The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Sebastiaan de With of Cocoia has posted another of his UI roundups, this time focusing on Apple’s evolution of the iPhone interface in the form of the brand new iPad.

He notes the expanded icon size of 72×72, and as-yet-unused 64 and 320 versions, along with more “earthy” metaphors, and since he designed the one for Classics, weighs in on the very similar looking iBooks.

Conversely, he’s not a fan of the new “popover” UI element, calling it kludgy. And feels the ..read more

According to MobileMe System Status, Mac Preferences, Windows Control Panel, iChat, and the www.me.com WebApps are down for the count. (Just how hard did they hit the eggnog over the last few days?)

Still, they’re keeping some pretense of holiday spirit, or irony:

Dear Apple, if you’re releasing a new wireless keyboard, why not take this opportunity to make it work with iPhone? If the rumor-mill is to be believed, you’re set to release new iMacs and Mac Minis (and hopefully a 27″ or 30″ LED display!) perhaps as soon as next week (hey, there was a Spotlight Turns to Notebooks event last October!). And if the FCC filings are accurate, you’ll have a new multitouch mouse and wireless keyboard to go with ..read more

It seems like just the other day TiPb linked to a concept rendering of what Apple’s Mac Exposé might look like for the iPhone, and now Steve Troughton-Smith, creator of Stacks for iPhone, has gone and brought it to Jailbreak.

It’s not publicly available yet, not via Cydia much less via Apple. But do we want?

Scary, but also an urgent reminder to everyone who uses Cloud Services, including iPhone owners with MobileMe, Exchange ActiveSync, Google Gmail/Calendar, or any other, similar accounts.

Wednesday Fun Video: 1984 Gets DoubleTwist’ed

DVD Jon, who gained fame and notoriety for cracking DVD and iTunes encryption, has since devoted a lot of his time and energy into DoubleTwist, and iTunes replacement. The above video is, of course, a parody of Apple’s anti-IBM “big brother” commercial that aired during the 1984 SuperBowl, this time recasting Apple — and Steve Jobs — as “big brother” and intimating they’ve become what they once mocked. All this by way of promoting the next release of DoubleTwist for ..read more
