Adobe Confirms Not All Android 2.2 Phones Get Flash

Adobe confirmed to Phone Scoop in a call that though Android 2.2 is required for Flash Player Mobile 10.1 to work, that doesn’t mean that all Android 2.2 devices will be able to access and run Flash Player Mobile. Motorola Earmarks $3.5 Billion for Handset Unit Spinoff

Motorola has said that it will set aside $3.5 billion for the handset and set-top box unit that it plans to spin off during the first quarter of 2011. Shiny Motorola iDen Slider Shows Up on FCC

A shiny new slider from Motorola has appeared on the FCC’s site with iDen push-to-talk capabilties in tow. The phone, identified as the Motorola i706, features a metallic face and a metal band around the shell, with a large walkie-talkie button on the side. Nokia Siemens Networks Confirms Capital Search

Nokia and Siemens have confirmed to the Financial Times that they are seeking investment partners for their shared Nokia Siemens Networks venture. “We are always willing to talk to those who want to bring ideas and capital to the industry,” Nokia’s Chief Financial Officer Timo Ihamuotila told the Financial Times. Verizon Wireless Now Offering Flash 10.1 to Moto Droid

Verizon Wireless today announced that it is pushing a new over-the-air update to the original motorola Droid. The new software will allow Droid owners to find and download the Adobe Flash PLayer Mobile 10.1 from the Android Market. Adobe’s Flash Player Mobile 10.1 will give the Droid access to Flash content on web sites, as well as Flash-based games. The software update and Adobe Flash Player Mobile 10.1 are free.

Motorola Takes 280 North Toward Web-App Bliss

Motorola earlier this summer acquired a company called 280 North. The company developed a new programming language and framework called Cappucino that helps create web-based applications. Verizon Wireless Pushing Droid 2 Update

Verizon Wireless is pushing an over-the-air update to the recently released Motorola Droid 2. The phone is being updated to software version 2.2.20.A955.Verizon.en.US, which includes improvements in contact sync for Exchange users and a better setup sequence for Visual VoiceMail. The update also enables text and picture message scrolling. The update will be offered automatically, or interested users can navigate to the Settings menu and choose About Phone, then select System Updates.

Motorola Updates Android Upgrade Schedule

Motorola has posted a revised schedule of software updates for its Android devices. In the U.S., Motorola says that the Droid X will receive Android 2.2 by late summer. Motorola Charm Coming Soon to T-Mobile

T-Mobile has announced that the Motorola Charm will be coming to its stores on August 25th. The phone is the first slab QWERTY style Android phone, with a touchscreen up top and a full QWERTY beneath. The phone will run Android with Motorola’s newest MotoBLUR interface design. Pricing has yet to be announced.
