AT&T on Sunday made the LG Encore available for sale. The Encore is a touch phone with a three-inch display and LG’s feature phone touch operating system. The Encore has quad-band GSM/EDGE and dual-band 850/1900Mhz 3.6Mbps HSDPA 3G, aGPS, accelerometer, and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR with support for A2DP. Nokia Shutting Down Ovi Files

Nokia has indicated via an email to users of its Ovi Files service that the file-accessing feature will be shut down on October 1, 2010. Ovi Files, one of the many Ovi-branded services that Nokia offers, allowed users to access files stored on their computer from their Nokia handset. Nokia is asking users of the service to uninstall it from their machines. Nokia also recently ceased development on a social networking application for the Symbian platform.

Verizon Wireless Officially Announces Its First ZTE Phone

Verizon Wireless today formally announced the ZTE Salute, its first handset from Chinese manufacturer ZTE. Stand-out features include a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, VZ Navigator and Verizon’s Social Beat social networking application. The Salute is a vertical slider with standard numerical keypad. It is available online and at Verizon Wireless retail stores for $20 after mail-in rebate with a new contract. The ZTE was outed by online retailer WireFly earlier this week.

Wired did some poking around and discovered Phillip Shoemaker, Apple’s director of App Store — the man purportedly in charge of App Store approval and rejection — was or is the developer of fart and urination apps.
